  6. The English language is for sale! Have you noticed that when you search your first page begins with a sponsored listing. People pay for keywords.   7. Read the article BBC News ‘Cheating’ the search engines, 05/04/07 and describe in your own words how search engines were tricked. What is search engine ‘spamming’?
  8. Search Engines are storing details of your search on their servers – describe how this is a breach of privacy? Work round this by using www.scroogle.org
  9. With the ever increase of Internet content being multimedia e.g. images, video clips and podcasts – Research and describe how these can be searched for? E.g. podcasts may use transcription, images use segmentation mapping, tagging photos is being used by individuals.
  10. Wolfram|Alpha is set to be a new type of search engine. It is a computational knowledge engine with its own internal knowledge base with a library of factual information, algorithms and search methods.   11. Give some top 10 tips to students for effective web searching – create an A4 poster with these on.
