Social and Ethical Implications:
Discuss and write a report on the following:

  1. The balance of responsibility of an individual and organization for training.

Discuss: Describe, Example, Impacts, Problems, Solutions, Evaluation.
When new software, hardware or a new subject is presented to a person, the responsibility to train, learning these new features should be provided by the organization for the person who works in and it is up to the person to utilize such advantage of training. The impact this has on the organization is better performance of the person using these features, leading to positive outcome. However, one problem that arises is the cost of the training and the reliability the organization must have on the person to properly utilize the training given. Perhaps, one solution to solve cost issue is to separate the amount of money between the organization and the individual, so that, if the person slacks off, the amount of loss the organization suffers is not as much as paying the whole training package. Since the individual pays the package, he or she would be more attentive.
In government schools or even private schools? have the government to ensure that the teachers or workers do have the appropriate training. If this is the case then the individual is most likely not paying the training package. But to ensure that the person receives training well, perhaps, the government should set tests and exams to determine the result of the person.

What problems do you think are encountered by organizations developing training materials
The problems that are encountered by organizations are:

- the costs of developing training materials; economic might be a problem as the costs might be expensive for the organization to develop training. Furthermore, the cost of hiring people such as programmers to develop the training materials and maintenance to maintain the developing process of the training materials.

- The time to develop the training materials, where it may take time to develop the training materials. Furthermore, to get people to test the training materials so it would function properly without any problems to be encountered by the consumers.

- Another problem is to interview the people who might develop the training materials as some are TECHNOFOBIA, who are afraid to work with machines.

- Language of the training material, people may not be able to speak in one language only.

- Another problem would be some people are very inexperience while using the machinery or computers. Furthermore, the continuous need to update and buy new softwares and systems.

- Another problem are the different ways of approach in the learning aspect(one by audio, interactive, visual).

Impact is reliability, where it relies on the people to develop a working training material for the consumer. And the reliability of process to develop the training materials, where sometimes there might be a problem within the process such as a breakdown while developing.

The solution to the problem are:

Training materials can have different languages to be available as a selection in case an employee doesn’t understand English.

The need for IT companies to consider the global and cultural diversity when preparing training and tutorial software

When preparing a tutorial software, the manufacturer should think about the cultural diversity, because a software which would probably be used around the world should have a selection of languages, for it to be understood if it were to be used half way around the world. Including the language of handouts and training.

There is also a cultural background for a manufacturer to look at, for example comparing two different countries and their usage of IT. People from different backgrounds have different experience in using the IT hardware and software, some may know all about it, while a few may have never even interacted with a computer. So the level of training varies.

Some cultures may not approve of using computers or these types of technology (technophobia) so training/help would be given on paper. Information might be limited with less multi media and visual animations which would be easier to understand.

The requirement of organizations to provide training when implementing change.

Policies and standard.
An Organization should consider the issue of Policies and standards when implementing changes that would affect the employee’s of the organization. If the organization implemented something new they should provide the training required to educate their employees.

Roles and responsibilities (ethical)
The responsibility of providing the training for the employee can be either the person who implemented the changes or the organization board. The employee shouldn’t need to provide themselves with training unless they are new employees and the organization have stated that the requirement is needed but for the employees which are currently already working for them should e provided the training from the organization.

The problem with timing in this issue will arise also because the decision of how long it would take to train employee will be problem. The training might take a longer period as well as a higher cost then the organization will expect.
