2.2.6 Tutorials, Training and Wizards (Assistants)
.....These may include:
• key terms—tutorial software, training software, wizards and assistants, help menu and help features, “Read Me” files
• using wizards, assistants and online assistants in the design and creation of a product, for example, desktop-published documents, slideshows, web sites.
Identify the different types of help that you may have in learning a new piece of software.
For each type:
o Describe what it is?
o Use an example to explain how to use it
o Consider the dos and don’ts of developing help and training files
Know your Vocabulary
Research and find definitions of the following key terms – tutorial software, training software, wizards and assistants, help menu and help features, “Read Me” files
Activity
Choose a program that you have installed on your computer. It may be new software or software that you have had for a while. Use the Help features to learn a new skill or feature of the software.
Evaluate the help guide or tutorial you used by answering the following questions:
1. Include the title of the software and skill learned
2. Include a picture of the software
3. Provide a brief summary about the help guide/tutorial
4. Describe the useful features of the help/tutorial
5. Describe the aspects that you found unhelpful or irritating.
6. Give the feature a rating out of 5 stars.
